Answers to a few FAQ...

How often should a piano be tuned?
Every six months.  At least once per year.   AS NEEDED.  After Moving.
        Before a Performance/Recording/Wedding/Party/etc.
What is the best time of year to have my piano tuned?
In fall, then again in spring.  If you are going to have  your piano tuned only once per year, it's best to have             the service during the same month each year.
What hours do you work?
Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 6:00; though I will make exceptions for the occasional evening or weekend              appointment.  Performance venues, churches, and schools often require odd hours, and I am happy to accept          this as a responsibility of my profession.
What is a pitch raise/lowering?
When a pianos pitch strays too far from standard pitch (A4=440), I must tune the piano twice.  This is to                    Preserve your instrument's integrity, and not compromise the fine tuning.  Also referred to as a Double                   Tuning.  These tunings are performed consecutively, during same visit.  The first is a "rough in" to stabilize             string tensions.  The second is the fine tuning.
What is that box you have?
I often use an ETD (Electronic Tuning Device).   My Sanderson Accu Tuner enables me to produce accurate              pitch targets (I can match your piano to another instrument), and helps establish temperament for some                  harmonically-challenged spinets and consoles.  Rest assured I ALWAYS use my ears for temperament,                       intervals, bichords, and trichords.
What does regulation refer to?
Regulation is the process of mechanically adjusting your piano for optimal performance.  Over time the                   many natural fiber parts compress, bind, wear, or break.  Regulation mends, adjusts, and re-sets the                          parameters.  This improves touch, repetition, dynamics, and overall performance!
